Enjoy the natural soundscapes and scenery we find here - wind, birds, waves, the sound of rain and joyful family outdoor fun. Please minimize the outdoor use of ampifiers and speakers. Please enjoy your music indoors.
Quiet hours 9 pm to 7am are enforced by Lake of Bays By-Law 2021-029, and we suggest 10 am to 4 pm as less intrusive times to operate noise-producing equipment such as chainsaws and leaf blowers. Optimize star gazing by following Dark Sky guidelines: use outdoor lights only when needed, use the lowest amount of light possible and have shielded, directed light.
Power boats please watch your wakes, minimizing them close to shore. Some studies suggest 500' from shore is necessary to prevent shoreline erosion due to boat wakes. Demonstrate care for water birds, swimmers and paddlers by leaving space and slowing down. Swimmers and paddlers generally stay closer to shore for safety. For swim crossings, bring an escort boat.
Share the road: Drive according to road conditions - watch for bicycles, pedestrians and wildlife. Slower vehicles pull over when safe to do so and allow others to pass.
Campfires: outdoor fires are prohibited from 8 am to 6 pm from April 1 to October 31 or 24 hours during fire bans.
